How to Wake Up Early in the Morning?

Wake up! Early Morning!
“Early to bed, early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise”
We all know that and everyone wants to wake up early in the morning, even I wanted to do the same.
Coming to me, I can be alert till 3 am in the morning but waking up early by 7 am is a nightmare to me. But you know I am changed now. Every day for the past one year, I am waking up by 5 am. Trust me. It’s possible.
I will tell you how it happened. Probably it will help you as well.

Unhealthy Lifestyle

Thanks to our lifestyle and job, we end up staying awake till midnight. I generally wake up at 9 or 10 am have a quick bath and very quick breakfast and head to work. I will be back to home from work at 7 pm. Then grab some biscuits and cook dinner at 9 pm, eat it at 10 pm.
Time for social networking from 9 to 12 pm, then some books or movies and here comes 2 pm, the next day. What a unhealthy lifestyle! Many young families are leading this kind of lifestyle. Finger pointing to our job is the easy way to do.
But we cannot leave our job and also we do not have time for healthy balanced life. No time to cook healthy food, No time to exercise, No time to learn something new, No time to talk with family, No time even to reflect about ourselves. So sad! Busy Bees!

Start Small

But I hate myself for this, to say lot of excuses and blaming my work for my bad lifestyle. How to change? I remember reading, “If you want to change something, change yourself.” So I thought of giving it a try by changing myself.

What to change? I do not have time! Yes, I work from 10 to 7. I started small.
I tried waking up 15 mins early. Yes tough on the first day. I spent that time to have morning green tea. (How I started having green tea is another story!) I went to sleep 15 mins early. I practiced this for a week and it felt better. I started enjoying the time I have had for morning beverage. This encouraged me to start again 15 mins early from my current waking time. Now I have 30 mins extra time. I started doing Suryanamskar (Again another story). I improved myself in course of time.

After 1 year, I began to wake up at 5 am and head to gym/ do yoga to kick start my day. Then I cook breakfast, lunch, evening snack and spend time for my leisure tea and sweet family. I do meditation and am in office by 10 AM.
Evening after coming back by 7 pm, I take 1 hr total rest by reading book or practicing keyboard and then prepare dinner. I have dinner and go to bed by 10 pm and fall asleep soon.

Productive and Healthy

This makes me more productive and healthy. It improved my quality of work and behavior which was a big motivation to improve my lifestyle.
I am a very happy changed person now. I happily say “I am a morning person and I fell asleep by 10 pm” to which my colleagues say “Wow”!!
I am ending this on a proud note that a simple change made me to have a control on my life. You could also achieve that by taking a small step as the saying by Neil Armstrong goes, “A small step is a giant leap to mankind”.
