Do you Craving Full Lips?

Does Angelina Jolie and Scarlet Johansson’s luscious pout make you pout? Well, turn that frown upside down. If you’re a little self-conscious about your thin lips, I’ve got a few simple steps that can help create the illusion of fuller lips.

Try this before going under the knife! Trust me – many people have come out of operating rooms looking worse than when they went in!

Step 1: Prep

Moisturize your lips regularly. If they’re a little rough, use an exfoliating lip balm (it has little beads in it) or apply some Vaseline to damp lips and use a soft-bristled toothbrush to rub off flaky skin. Make sure you don’t have too much Chapstick on – your lip products won’t adhere as well.

Step 2 – Conceal

Using a sponge or foundation brush, apply a thin layer of your regular concealer over your entire mouth. Doing this will help blur the rim of your lips and will also help act as a primer.

Step 3: Dot

Using a nude-ish lip liner (I like “Spice” by MAC), identify the highest points of your lips. Dot lip liner slightly outside your natural lip line. This will help you keep your lip liner even when it’s time to line your mouth.
*I know you want huge lips – but please – DO NOT over exaggerate your lip line. It will look entirely unnatural and clownish.

Step 4: Line

Using feathery strokes, line lips – using the dots you already created as a guide.
*The line in this image appears harsh because I want you to be able to see the liner apart from the lips.

Step 5: Fill

Again, using gentle strokes, use lip liner to fill in the lip. The point is to erase your natural lip line and blend it into the new rim you have created.

Step 6: Lipstick

Apply a matte or satin lipstick over the lip liner. Matte and satin lip colors tend to adhere better than glossier/shinier ones. You may also choose to use a lip stain instead of a lipstick (everyone makes one now – you can find them in drugstores and department stores.) This stuff really stays on!

Step 7: Lip Gloss

Apply lip gloss over lipstick. Make sure not to take the lip gloss too close to the edges of your lips. Lip gloss can slip, making your pout look messy.

*You may not like the feel of it, but use a sticky, almost tacky lip gloss. It will last longer and won’t slip as much.

**Metallic glosses work great. They help reflect light, making lips appear larger.

Final Thoughts:
*Lip Plumpers: These products do not actually make your lips bigger. Usually, they contain ingredients that make blood rush to the lip area, making them look slightly engorged. For temporary plumpness, lip plumpers do work.

**If you have very thin lips, avoid using dark lip shades. They will make your lips look severe, and thinner. Stick with neutral, light shades and play up your eyes!!!

***Okay, so you don’t have the fullest lips in the world – it’s okay – in certain parts of the world, thin lips are considered more attractive than full ones.
